The two most important safety instructions for Instant Pot's Instant Pot

The Instant Pot manual is full of safety instructions, but these two are key instructions to remember:

First of all, when the Instant Pot is open, never put your face close to the steam release valve or float valve. When I switch the steam release valve, I use a long-handled wooden spoon, so my hands and arms do not come close to the valve opening. Any kitchen utensil with a long handle will do. Or, when you are ready to release the pressure in the Instant Pot, you can use oven gloves to carefully turn the steam release valve to the "exhaust" position.

Secondly, do not open the lid of the Instant Pot before releasing the pressure through the steam release valve. When the float valve (pin) drops, you will know that all pressure has been released.
