The issue was the fact that content updates were few and far between WoTLK Gold. The majority of expansions that WoW has had come with at least three major content patches. Shadowlands however, on the contrary however, only received two patches in the last two years, with the latest and final content patch arriving just very recently. Having only two major patches means that it puts Shadowlands in the same company with 2014.'s Warlords of Draenor expansion, that was also a significant low point in the game's history. The reality that WoW needs a monthly subscription to play it makes the seven-month wait time between Shadowlands the content updates more outrageous. The flu pandemic is sure to have had some impact on production and workflow, but that does not make the inability to create something new to do within the game an easier pill to swallow for players. The Eternity's Ended update marking the effective conclusion of new content for Shadowlands and a new expansion not even yet announced, it will likely be another long wait until new content gets into the game.
"Jailer" is known by many as being among the most frustrating players in World of Warcraft history.
None of the above even refers to the story of Shadowlands which is an additional source of contention for longtime fans. The story of Shadowlands was a major point for many longtime fans. Shadowlands, Blizzard introduced a new villain, called the Jailer, as the ultimate mastermind behind the major events in the past expansions but also lore-shifting events going all the way back to World of Warcraft. The Jailer was intended to be a brilliant scheming genius who was working on his plans to alter the rules of the real world for centuries. But in reality, his schemes had no logic in the end, and he was never able to come up with anything more fascinating to say beyond the stereotypical "prepare to die, mortals" variety. Many criticized the villain, jokingly referring to him as playing a game of 4D chess , a game that even Blizzard could comprehend. As revealed at the end of the final Shadowlands raid, the Jailer ultimately proved to be no more a character and more a plot device, existing only to reveal a previously unknown aspect of danger to the universe. Through this, Blizzard reduced the amount of lore along with character-building for beloved franchise icons such as Sylvanas and Arthas as well as a host of other characters in support of a throwaway villain who brought nothing but a gimmick to the world of the game buy WoTLK Classic Gold, other of the apparent power to make anything he came in contact with become worse.
