APEGS Canada annual fees for members are divided into parts. The first is the membership fee, and the second is the licence fee. A member can apply for a licence waiver if they are not working in Saskatchewan in one of the below-given three scenarios or retired:
- Not currently living in Saskatchewan and not practising engineering or geoscience on projects or properties in Saskatchewan.
- Living in the province, but practising engineering or geoscience in Saskatchewan and are unemployed (not working at any job whatsoever), or
- Regardless of the place of residence:
- On maternity, paternity or parental leave
- Pursuing full-time studies at an educational institution
- Retired and not eligible for Life Membership
- On disability leave
- Away from the workforce to raise a family or offer elder care
How to reinstate your licence if having received a licence waiver?
If you are given a licence waiver and sometime later during the year you return to work or get engineering or geoscience work on projects or properties in Saskatchewan, inform APEGS Canada and pay the prorated licence fee. A member can call the APEGS office or contact it to have their prorated licence fee calculated.
A member can pay their licence fees in one of the below-given ways:
- By mailing APEGS a cheque
- By credit card over the phone
- By credit card through APEGS Central, the self-serve portal
Licence Waiver ineligibility:
You, as a licensee/member, are not eligible for a licence waiver if:
- Your circumstances are not listed above.
- You are a resident in the province, are employed (including non-engineering/geoscience jobs) and are registered in Saskatchewan only, irrespective of workplace location.
- You are a Temporary Licensee.
- You are an Official Representative for a Certificate of Authorization (C of A) and there is no other Official Rep for the C or A that is licensed.
Retroactive remission of licence fee:
The below-given members are eligible for retroactive remission of the licence fee when giving a written request to APEGS:
- Those who are living in Saskatchewan, not practising engineering or geoscience in Saskatchewan and are unemployed (not working at any job whatsoever) or
- irrespective of place of residence:
- Pursing full-time studies at an educational institution
- Away from the workforce to keep a family or offer elder care
- On parental, paternity or maternity leave
- On disability leave
- Retired and ineligible for Life Membership
